New photo shows GranSport 45 progress at Overmarine

Italian yard Overmarine has released the first in-build photo of the latest model in its fast displacement range, the 45.3-metre (149-foot) Mangusta GranSport 45.

Styled inside and out by Alberto Mancini and featuring naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio, this all-aluminium yacht is due to launch in 2019. The hull is largely complete, with the next major step to be the joining of the superstructure.

First announced at Yachts Miami Beach in February 2017 as the GranSport 44, this design is inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle. Speaking last year about the project, Mancini said, "From the very first drawings, I imagined and drew a project which brings together interiors and exteriors and has them communicate with each other, using a unique design language.”

Accommodation on board is for 10 guests and seven crewmembers, and while no interior renderings have currently been made available, the yard adds that the décor will be consistent with the “timeless” exterior profile.

Key features include a superyacht beach club measuring 75 square metres (246 square foot) with three fold-out sections encouraging interaction with the water.

Up on the main deck, the foredeck superyacht spa pool with room for seven people is the main outdoor relaxation area, featuring a unique waterfall feature that will be added later in the build.

Power will come from a triple 2,600hp MTU 16V2000 M96L setup, coupled to a Rolls Royce Kamewa waterjet for a top speed of 26 knots. In line with other Mangusta projects, the GranSport 45 boasts a highly efficient hull shape that allows for a maximum cruising range of 3,000 nautical miles at 11 knots and over 1,000 nautical miles at 20 knots.

Other current developments at the Italian yard include the flagship Mangusta GranSport 54, which is due to hit the water later this year.
