Leading yacht registration company Regs4ships has recently announced the addition of Mike Symons as their new security and ship management specialist.
Mike’s background includes a 22 year career with the UK Royal Navy, qualifying as a chief nuclear propulsion plant marine engineer in the Submarine Service. He supported Captain Submarine Sea Training (CSST), and UK (MOD) NATO Submarine Escape and Rescue Operations, with the provision of UK Special Forces, Submarine Parachute Assistance Group (SPAG), including the US Navy Deep Submerged Recovery Vehicle (DSRV) program until retirement from active service in 1999.
Following retirement from the Royal Navy and after a short period in offshore oil and gas operations Mike joined Global Marine Systems Ltd, one of the world’s largest merchant shipping submarine fibre optic cable installation and maintenance companies. After 12 years with Global Marine Systems, holding increasing positions of responsibility from fleet superintendent, company security officer to company quality manager, he decided to leave in 2013 in order to run his own business as a private maritime consultant.
Now Mike joins Regs4ships in the position of security and ship management specialist, utilising his extensive experience in ship management and a UK certified ISPS company security officer and accredited security trainer.
According to Regs4ships, Mike has a passion for ensuring good quality competence training is consistent and delivered within the international maritime sector aligned to IMO Codes, International Standards, applicable government legislation, and best management practice.
