OmniAccess provides high speed Ku-band VSAT coverage in the Seychelles

OmniAccess, an industry leading VSAT service provider and network integrator in the luxury superyacht market, is expanding its high speed coverage areas to include the Seychelles to complement the existing coverage over the Maldives.

The new network will be available in mid-December and will operate on a Ku band spot beam that covers both the Maldives and the Seychelles. As part of this coverage expansion, OmniAccess will uplink the service from Europe through its fifth iDirect Evolution Hub.

The Ku Band VSAT services will be available under the flexible BroadBEAM FLEX month-to-month contracts to include high speeds of up to 15Mbps BroadBEAM ULTRA service plans.  As a result, private and commercial vessels in the Seychelles and Maldives will be able to enjoy a broadband experience at sea with bandwidth hungry applications such as Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) streaming, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), videoconferencing and cloud computing.

Carlos Carbajal, managing director said, “In our effort to provide extensive Ku Band coverage in the yachting sailing areas, over the last year we have lead the market by expanding our Ku band networks in remote areas such as the French Polynesia, Galapagos, Antarctica and now the Seychelles.  Up to now maritime Internet connectivity had been extremely limited in the Indian Ocean islands and thanks to our new network yacht owners and charterers in the Seychelles will be able to enjoy high-speed internet services.”
