OneOcean Port Vell has announced that it has been chosen as the new host venue for the prestigious MYBA Charter Show, welcoming the show to Barcelona for the next three years.
Narrowly beating Nice and Genoa to the post, OneOcean Port Vell will welcome exhibiting charter yachts and yachting professionals to the famous Barcelona superyacht marina at the start of 2017, after 16 years of it being hosted in the city of Genoa.
In a recent press release, OneOcean Port Vell shared its pride in being selected as the host venue. They said, “We are excited to show the industry the comprehensive facilities and services OneOcean Port Vell has to offer yacht owners, guests, captains and crew, as well as the fun activities and culture to be enjoyed in the vibrant city of Barcelona – one of the most popular destinations in the Med today.
“With an international airport 20-minutes’ drive away, the beach and cultural heart of Barcelona a short walk from the marina, a wealth of hotels nearby and the space to berth 68 exhibiting yachts from 22m to 190m, OneOcean Port Vell is more than prepared for the MYBA shows to come.”
Paul Cook, general manager of OneOcean Port Vell added, “It is a great honour for OneOcean Port Vell to be appointed as host of the prestigious MYBA Charter Show from 2017 and we would like to thank MYBA for their confidence in us.
“Barcelona is one of the world’s leading cities and with OOPV, it is now a prominent superyacht destination with unrivalled marina facilities and infrastructure. This, combined with the easing of legislation on Spanish charters, which has had a positive impact on the demand for chartering and cruising in the region, ensures that OOPV and MYBA are optimally positioned to deliver the next evolution of this event in 2017 and beyond.”
James Graham-Cloete, panel chairman of MYBA Charter Shows said, “MYBA hopes that bringing the show to Barcelona will further speed up and enhance any progress in opening up the charter market and regulations in these attractive cruising grounds.”
The show is set take place between 24th and 27th April 2017, and will be held across OneOcean Port Vell’s four quays, with the 930 linear metres of quay space used to house exhibitor tents.
