Australia’s newest and largest charter superyacht Oneworld is now leaving Dubai to debut at the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous at Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st April 2018.
Primarily targeted at the corporate and private events market, the AUS $10 million Gulf Craft-designed Oneworld is an imposing presence, with an enormous 120-person capacity for events and weddings. The 31.5-metre (103-foot) yacht was completed in February and features an enclosed fly bridge, wide staircases and increased carbon fibre to accommodate additional weight bearing.
Her owner, Rod Salmon, said, “Oneworld has been a carefully planned project spanning several years involving extensive research of the Australian superyacht charter market to clearly understand what was needed along with visits to several international boat shows including Dubai, Florida and Monaco to ensure we purchased the pinnacle vessel for this market.”
Gulf Craft has approximately four superyachts in Australia, and in new-build Oneworld boasts the largest capacity superyacht launching at the event.
Trenton Gay, CEO of Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard and organiser of the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, said, “Oneworld is the first new internationally designed and manufactured superyacht to enter Australia for approximately 18 months so this is an exciting coup for the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous to have it premiere at our event. It’s also heralds an exciting time for Australia’s superyacht, events and travel markets to welcome a vessel of this calibre.”
Oneworld features five on-board suites, each equipped with its own en-suite bathroom, and can accommodate 12 guests on overnight charters. It houses five full-time crewmembers, but can host supplementary staff should they be needed for larger events..
Available for charter in Australia from May onwards, Oneworld will be permanently based in Sydney. It is expected to charter on Sydney Harbour from November to July each year, then on the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef from August to October.
This year, the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous will celebrate the economic potential of Australia and of the Asia Pacific as a superyacht hotspot across four events. Its venue, the Gold Coast City Marina, is the largest facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere, with a capacity that enables more than 50 superyachts to berth at any one time.
