Pains Wessex launches new Manoverboard (MOB)

Pains Wessex, a leading brand of marine distress signals, is launching its new compact Manoverboard at major commercial shipping exhibition, SMM Germany from 4th to 7th September on Drew Marine Signal and Safety’s stand.

The innovative compact Manoverboard (MOB) Mark 9 has a range of features, including a drop height of more than 60 metres, double the height required by SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) regulations, which makes it suitable for use on oil and gas rigs.  It is also:

  • Small– at 375mm
  • Light – 3.8kg, including the bracket
  • Easy to install – just ‘fit and forget’
  • Safe to use on oil-covered water
  • Mountable to 60metres
  • Simple to replace individual LED bulbs

The individual LED light pods allow for quick installation and testing and a new retaining clip prevents accidental deployment in rough seas.

The new compact Manoverboard’s single-piece stainless steel bracket means it fits existing installations.

The Pains Wessex brand is manufactured by Drew Marine Signal and Safety, a marine safety specialist which recently acquired the business that previously operated as Chemring Marine.

Drew Marine Signal and Safety is the world’s leading supplier of SOLAS, MED & USCG-approved marine distress signals to commercial and leisure marine markets.

Pains Wessex products have been helping to save lives for more than 100 years and are specified by the world’s navies, merchant fleets, fishing vessels, rescue services, airlines and leisure craft. They are available through a global network of more than 200 distributors.

The SMM – Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology international trade fair this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Drew Marine Signal and Safety is among its 2,000 exhibitors and the event is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors from around the world.
