Italy-based shipyard Perini Navi has announced the sale of the second 42-metre (138-foot) sailing yacht in its E-volution series.
The model – which is the first unit in the GTS series – is scheduled for delivery to European owner in 2021. The announcement arrives following the news that the yard had sold the first in the series in July this year.
The aluminium- and carbon-designed vessel features exterior styling by Perini Navi and naval architecture by California-based yacht designer Reichel Pugh.
Some aspects of the naval architectural design, specifically the keel and sail plan, have been altered at the owner’s request.
The keel has an extended depth of 7.4 metres while the mast has been increased to measure 62.5 metres.
The new sail plan will feature a square top mainsail, extended boom and four-metre bowsprit to make best use of sail surface.
The second E-volution yacht will also feature a more “streamlined” deck house which combined with the replacement of carbon for numerous fittings, has reduced the boat’s displacement
Lamberto Tacoli, chairman and chief executive of Perini Navi, stated that the sale had concluded in “an important year for our shipyard”.
He added, “We have a lot of confidence in the 42 metre E-volution GTS project because it represents the perfect synthesis of comfort and performance and we are pleased that the line is having so much success in this important market segment.”
The second 42-metre sailing yacht is one of the seven yachts over 40 metres currently under construction at the Perini Navi yard.
