Perini Navi launches 25m hybrid-electric Eco-Tender

Italian shipyard Perini Navi has recently launched its 25.5-metre (84-foot) Eco-Tender in Viareggio.

The project stems from the owners’ request to have an extension of their 53-metre (171-foot) Perini Navi sailboat.

Lamberto Tacoli, president and CEO of Perini Navi, said, “The Eco-Tender lines, classic and elegant, recall the style of the historic Perini Navi sailing fleet, from the dark blue hull to the red waterline.

"It is not a common tender, it represents a new type of ‘super tender’ with cutting-edge technology and unprecedented comfort: a boat designed and built as if it were a superyacht, with the characteristics and quality that have always distinguished Perini Navi. This cutting-edge tender opens up new horizons, while the brand continues to perfect its range of products to meet the demands of a constantly evolving market segment."

The Eco-Tender features a sophisticated hybrid-propulsion system developed by Siemens Marine Solutions. Power comes from a pair of 1213kW diesel engines, which will drive two hydro-jets for a top speed of 30 knots.

The tender can operate at zero-emissions and noise during small trips or manoeuvres, with a speed of 8 knots and a duration time of about one hour.  At the owners’ request, a particular focus has been placed on noise reduction in all propulsion modes.

"This is the first time that we have installed such a cutting edge hybrid system on a tender", added Luca Boldrini, sales manager for Perini Navi motor yachts. “The initial impulse came from the owners, very sensitive to new technologies, who wanted a boat with the least possible environmental impact. The know-how we have acquired with this project will remain available for the yachts we will build in the future.”

The all-aluminium tender is scheduled for delivery in April.
