Permare gives Amer 94 series engine upgrade

Permare has announced that its Amer 94 series of motor yachts will now be available with a more efficient twin 1,000hp Volvo Penta D13-IPS 1350 engine option. 

It is a move that further enhances the all-round performance and fuel efficiency of the 28.65m flybridge yacht, which was released earlier this year.

Barbara Amerio, owner of Amer Yachts, explained, “The new Amer 94 is born from a continuous desire to challenge ourselves. We want to break the 3.5 litre per mile threshold of fuel consumption we have set in the past at a slow cruising speed. We want to build a boat that offers a great deal of choice in allowing customers to navigate for longer periods at low revs.” 

Early consumption estimates for the Amer 94 with twin IPS 1350 installed suggest 15 litres per mile at a maximum speed of 27 knots and 14 litres per mile at a cruising speed of 23 knots.

When travelling at nine knots, the yacht will be able to cruise from San Remo to Venice – a distance in excess of 1,600 nautical miles – without needing to refuel its 5,000 litre tank. 

One of the key features of the new pod-drive unit, first introduced at Cannes Yachting Festival last month, is a joystick control. Designed for more precise manoeuvring and positioning, the system allows the vessel to stay in a given spot without dropping anchor.

Alongside this new option, Permare say the more powerful triple IPS 900 set-up is also available to order.
