P&O Marinas confirms second edition of Dubai International Superyacht Summit

P&O Marinas has announced that the Dubai International Superyacht Summit (DISS) will return in February 2019 after a successful debut earlier this year.

Held in Mina Rashid Marina, Dubai, from February 28th to March 1st 2018, DISS was organised specifically to discuss the opportunities and challenges for the emergence of an ‘Emirati Riviera’ as a yachting destination, a superyacht hub and preferred winter destination.

The key outcome of the summit was the implicit acknowledgement of how much work would be required to accomplish its stated goal of developing an ‘Emirati Riviera’.

Another notable result of the first edition was the stimulation of lively discussion among all the parties involved in the superyacht industry, including relevant government institutions and authorities.

P&O Marinas has maintained an important role as facilitator for continuous discussion with various important government bodies, including Customs, Immigration and Dubai Maritime City Authority. Evidence of the resulting commitment of government bodies to the aims of DISS is contained in the Federal Transport Authority Circular No. 13 2018, entitled Visiting Foreign Yachts “Cruising Permits”.

This circular announces the introduction of a cruising permit allowing foreign private yachts to cruise uninterrupted in UAE waters for a period of six months, rather than the previous limit of 21 days.

P&O Marinas has confirmed the next Dubai International Superyacht Summit will take place on February 27th and 28th 2019. A detailed programme, official venue and supporting sponsors will be announced at a later date.
