Scanstrut slims down with launch of compact Scanpods

Global leader in installation solutions for marine electronics, Scanstrut Ltd, has expanded its successful Scanpod range, with the launch of two new compact models in both the deck and helm versions.

Scanstrut has launched the new pod range to meet the growing demand for installation solutions designed to fit modern, slim style electronics. The brand’s existing 8” and 12” displays for both the Helm Pod and the Deck Pod have become the fit of choice for many leading boat builders, and the new compact models will ensure those purchasing smaller electronics and multifunction display screens, such as the innovative Raymarine e series and Simrad NSS, will have a stylish and compact installation option.

The new compact pods feature a reduced pod depth, and are even easier to fit together thanks to the shorter fixing screws.  Both benefit from the same features as their larger models, such as secure, watertight installation, and are upgraded with a double layer of ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene), a high tear strength silicone renowned for its toughness and very high resistance to impact, heat and UV - so won’t deteriorate over time.

Key features of the Helm Pod model include a universal helm fixing. The 8” model fits 6”-8” rails and the 12” model fits 6”-11” rails. The design allows for hassle free, quick and safe installation thanks to customised U-bolts that fit around the rail and through the saddles into the back of the pod eliminating the need for time consuming and awkward drilling of the stainless rail.

The compact Deck Pod solves the challenge of finding a level mounting surface to install displays onto powerboat, RIB and sailboat wheelhouses.  Features include a swivel and tilt base, which allows a one handed quick release action - simply release the lever, swivel and tilt to suit requirements before locking back into position, whilst an adjustable ball joint allows range of movement and multiple mounting angles.  For added strength an inner bracing plate secures the Deck Pod base to the pod and gives increased rigidity to the assembly eliminating potential damage from shock and vibration.

A new 7” Deck Pod has also been launched to fit the new 7” screens from Raymarine, Simrad, Lowrance, Garmin, Furuno. Prices start from £318 (+VAT).
