Seabin Foundation hosts Byron Bay’s first ocean and conservation summit

Earlier this year, Australia-based not-for-profit organisation Seabin Foundation – in association with American clothing company Patagonia – hosted Byron Bay’s first ocean and conservation summit at the Byron Community Theatre.

The sold out show, titled Summit to Sea, focused on ‘What we are doing – not what we should be doing’, with over $3,000 (£1,698) raised for Seabin Foundation’s activities.

Summit to Sea illuminated conservation efforts across industries, showcasing the power of individuals, communities and organisations to make a positive global change.

Summit to Sea featured an introduction by Pete Ceglinski, Seabin CEO and co-founder, and a speech on how Seabin Foundation evolved by Mahi Paquette, Seabin COO.

Several speakers from environmental protection organisations highlighted the success of campaigns to combat litter and ocean pollution and Paquette presented Seabin's solutions for tackling marine litter across the world.

Meanwhile, Yachting Pages Media Group, in collaboration with Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) and Octo Marine, has launched ‘Save Our Seas (S.O.S) Bottle Project’, a campaign designed to help the fight against plastic pollution in the world’s oceans.
