Security guard celebrates his 25th year at Trafalgar Wharf

On the 8th May 1989, the US space shuttle STS-30 returned from its mission, Paul McCartney released his remake of Ferry Cross the Mersey and Alex Dubois joined Vosper Thorneycroft, now Trafalgar Wharf, as a security officer.

25 years on, Alex is still working at Trafalgar Wharf as a guard for Securitas, but now it’s superyachts rather than secret army and navy vessels that he’s guarding.

Alex Dubois said, “I’ve always been a security officer, even before VT (Vosper Thorneycroft), I was in security for a packaging firm.

“Making sure everything is taken care of and secure is something I’m proud to do. I’ve been here at Trafalgar longer than I’ve been married and not many people work in the same place for a quarter of a century. I’ve been lucky.”

The Portsmouth Harbour marina is a popular choice for those wishing to sail in the Solent and Isle of Wight area and offers annual berthing for yachts of all sizes.
