Sunseeker brothers win Outstanding Achievement award

The brothers behind Sunseeker International were awarded the Outstanding Achievement award at the 2018 Luxury Briefing Awards.

Held at The Savoy Hotel in London on Monday evening, the award recognised brothers Robert and John Braithwaite’s combined career spanning more than a century.

After leaving school at the age of 15, Robert dreamt of building a new kind of boat. In 1969 he founded the early Sunseeker and over forty-plus years transformed the Sunseeker brand into a globally recognised brand, and today is one of the largest in the world.

When younger brother John joined Sunseeker, he was immediately influential in the engineering and craftsmanship of the iconic Sunseeker designs. Utilising the latest technologies and cutting-edge design but mostly listening to the customers, together the pair began producing some of the world’s most innovative motor yachts.

Using his eye for award-winning design, John was instrumental in the development of many of the firm's models, including Sunseeker’s fastest-selling model of all time, the Manhattan 52. 

Together the pair has pioneered a business that has produced a remarkable number of industry ‘firsts’, helping revolutionise the industry as a whole. Through Sunseeker’s growth, the team surrounding the dynamic duo now numbers more than 2,600 people.
