World leading refit, engineering and blue water yacht sales specialists Berthon International has entered into a strategic partnership with Palma-based Sentinel Yachting.
Forming a new company, Berthon Spain, it will offer a full range of yacht management, engineering, maintenance, refit services and yacht sales.
It joins Berthon France and Berthon UK to compliment Mediterranean and European coverage respectively; Berthon USA in Newport Rhode Island covers the USA.
Under the terms of the agreement, Berthon has acquired a meaningful interest in Sentinel Yachting. Since its incorporation in 2014, Sentinel Yachting has rapidly expanded to offer full guardiennage packages, in-house engineering, electronics, fabrication, plumbing, rig-support and brokerage.
Commenting on the announcement, Sue Grant, managing director of Berthon International, said, “In Sentinel, we appreciate Andrew’s no-nonsense and transparent approach, which match the values that have enabled Berthon to prosper as a family business since 1877. We now have a perfect base from which to offer great service to our clients whether they have yachts for sale with us or have bought and sold with us in the past, or indeed, are thinking of selling now.”
Andrew Fairbrass, managing director of Sentinel Yachting, added, “An alliance with Berthon enables us to tap into over 100 years of experience and expertise, complementing our personal approach to building client relationships; with Berthon’s formidable worldwide network and infrastructure I believe the combination creates a unique proposition for Med-based yacht owners that we can now offer from our office and workshops in the centre of Palma.”
Berthon has a workforce of highly skilled craftsmen specialising in the refit and repair of yachts of 40 to 100 feet (12 to 30 metres), a 300-berth deep water marina, and an international brokerage that sells some 200 yachts each year.
Sentinel Yachting, based in Palma de Mallorca, offers a whole range of services to boats up to 100m. With a well-equipped workshop, offices and a storage facility 5 minutes from the main shipyard – as well as a dedicated team of engineers and shipwrights – it is well placed to offer support to all sizes and types of yachts.
