The good, the bad and the awkward: An interview with Bertrand Poncet Massages

After working closely with Bertrand Poncet Massages over the past year, Yachting Pages interviewed Bertrand himself to find out just what he loves and loathes about being a massage therapist in such a competitive industry. From awkward moments to being on call 365 days a year and 24 hours a day…

In your own words, how would you describe your business? How has it developed over the years?

My business was founded by myself in 1999. Our first aim was to match our guest’s needs with a very high quality of service.  A priority was to ensure that we could offer short-notice services arriving at the client’s doorstep or passerelle within an hour.

Thanks to a lot of hard work and to our clients for spreading our reputation through word of mouth, we gain new customers year on year and a large majority of them become repeat customers.

What makes your service different to your competitors?

Our first promise is that we can answer the telephone 365 days a year, 24 hours a day- whenever our clients need us. Secondly, as mentioned previously, we promise to be with our clients within one hour of their call (Monaco to St-Tropez).

Last but not least, each one of the therapists within our team are highly qualified. Our large team, composed of 55 massage therapists, 15 beautician therapists, 5 osteopathy therapists, 5 personal fitness trainers and yoga teachers etc… are all reliable and will help our clients wherever they are and at any time.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It is a very rewarding job to be able to provide such energy, wellness and a healing touch to every one of our clients. After the massage, it is great to see a happy customer feeling better in both their body and their mind.

What are the biggest challenges that you face within the superyacht industry at the moment?

Unfortunately, some clients change their mind when booking a massage, and we have to explain to them about our cancellation policy: appointments cancelled less than 2 hours in advanced will be billed at full price. 

Have you had any awkward experiences that you can share with us?

Well as you can imagine, sometimes the client will offer a large amount of money to our female massage therapists for a “happy ending” and of course we always have to politely say “no sorry.”

Anybody who appreciates massages.
