Heesen Yachts Announces Two New Contracts

Heesen Yachts proudly announce the signing of two contracts for custom motor yachts.

The sale of the first of these, YN 16551, a 51-metre, full-displacement vessel was completed in December 2010 to create an enviable total of 7 vessels sold during that year.
The first sale of 2011 – YN 15850, a 50-metre, all-aluminium semi-displacement vessel – was completed in January 2011. The contract has been signed thanks to a fruitful collaboration with Burgess.

Heesen’s order book now consists of fifteen yachts currently in construction, all of which will be delivered to their owners by the end of 2014. These figures confirm the strength and financial reliability of this world-renowned company.

YN 16551
This yacht is a 51-metre full-displacement, long range vessel with a steel, round-bilge hull-form and aluminium superstructure.

The contract was signed in December 2010. This yacht offers some unique features, including a 70 square metre gymnasium that is located forward on the main deck - the traditional home of the master suite.

Frank Laupman, from Omega Architects, who designed the exterior lines, comments:
“My design for Heesen project 16551 is the logical development in design language following after our lines for ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘SKY’.
We allocated a considerable amount of space to the exterior decks, within a functional layout utilizing an orthogonal set-up and structure.
The plan is strongly rational with an interesting inside-outside relationship.”

YN 16551 accommodates 12 guests in five cabins, comprising two twins (each with an additional Pullman berth) and two doubles located on the lower deck and the owner’s suite located aft on the bridge deck, where it has exclusive access to the open deck and its Jacuzzi. The sun deck is partially shaded and enclos ed by rounded windows on its forward side to protect it from the wind. Here, the owner and his guests can enjoy an alfresco dinner, or lounge on the sunbathing area on the aft portion that surrounds a further massive rectangular Jacuzzi.

The yacht will be powered by a pair of MTU 12V4000 M53 diesels driving twin propellers, which will power it to a maximum speed of 15,6 knots.

The Owner has appointed New York based architectural studio Mojo Stumer, which collaborated with Heesen on the interior design of M.Y. Sky, the award-winning 50-metre presented at the latest Monaco Yacht Show.

Mark Stumer comments:
“Mojo Stumer Associates, p.c. is delighted to be collaborating with Heesen Yachts again. The upcoming project will explore the limits of modern yacht interiors, while affording the comforts of a luxury residence. Our avant-garde client is passionate about creating a distinctive design; something that the team of MSA and Heesen i s sure to achieve once more. We look forward to a successful endeavour.”

YN 16551 will be delivered to her owner in 2014.

YN 15850
This vessel belongs to the Heesen’s 50-metre semi-displacement all-aluminium series, which now has two sister-ships currently under construction: YN 15250 to be launched in February 2011 and YN 16050 to be launched in 2013.

Sophisticated naval architecture, combined with Heesen’s weight reduction expertise and a pair of 2.720kW MTU engines have combined to create a yacht with a range of 3.200nm and top flight fuel economy.

Twelve guests are accommodated in 6 cabins, 5 of which (including a VIP suite which occupies the yacht’s full beam) are located on the lower deck, while the owner’s suite, that also occupies the full-beam, is located forward on the main deck.

The main deck houses a formal saloon and dining area, while the upper deck is dedicated to more informal social areas. Her e, an alfresco dining table can seat 16 guests in comfort while, adjacent, the extravagantly glazed circular sky lounge offers magnificent 270º panoramic views.

Extraordinary amounts of open deck space are a particular feature of this yacht’s design. The 20-metre split-level sun deck features a luxurious Jacuzzi at its forward end, aft of which is a partially shaded bar and a sunbathing area equipped with steamer chairs.

The Owner has appointed Omega Architects and Domusnova for the interior design.

Carlo Manzoni comments:
“Powerful, elegant and fast - these are the main physical characteristics of this 50-metre semi-displacement vessel, so the owner asked us to extend them into the design of the interior, which was to be warm, refined and rich.

This is a yacht that is designed to sail on the seven seas, in every season and in all weather conditions, and we at the domusnova group made sure that these abilities were encompassed in the interior. The design of this ‘home away from home’ is far from the usual, incorporating handmade wood panelling on the walls, sculptured furniture and a private deck dedicated to the owner with a library and a bronze fire place. All these elements define the personality that the owner seeks in this prestigious yacht.”

YN 15850 is due for delivery in 2011.
