In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
UK-based charity and maritime training base UKSA has recently announced the launch of a fully-funded course, specifically aimed at 16 - 18 year olds who have finished their GCSEs and are looking to begin a career in the maritime industry.
The two-year course, suited to those with minimal experience in the maritime sector, will provide students with skills and qualifications that demonstrate their capability to work as a seafarer.
“UKSA is determined to provide as many opportunities to young people across the Isle of Wight and further afield,” said Will Satterly, UKSA’s education manager. “This new course is designed to open as many doors as possible for those willing to work hard, listen and learn from experienced tutors who are passionate about helping them set long-term goals and giving them the tools to achieve them.”
The government-funded course, as part of a full-time 16-plus Further Education (FE) programme, will cover educational topics including maritime safety, vessel rope work, anchoring, mooring operations, vessel construction and stability and control operation of survival craft.
Completion of the course will allow students to either continue an academic pathway towards UKSA’s flagship course, the Superyacht Cadetship, or create opportunities in a variety of maritime sectors, including on board superyachts, in the Merchant Navy, Royal Navy, and within the fisheries industry.
“UKSA’s Maritime Foundation course could be the first step into a career in a thriving industry, with long-term prospects, opening pathways into future training,” Satterly further added. “The first step is always the hardest but UKSA is experienced in supporting young people and was created to inspire and raise aspirations.”
