Vitters Shipyard’s Unfurled wins two awards after successful regatta season

Vitters Shipyard has announced that Unfurled – the Vitters-built 46m sailing yacht – has won both the World Superyacht Award in the Sailing Yacht 45m and above category, as well as the 2016 Sailing Yacht of the Year award, following a highly successful regatta season.

Unfurled’s owners are very proud to have received the awards and extend their gratitude to all those involved in the design and build of the 46m sloop, which won the 2016 St Barths Bucket.

Louis Hamming, managing director at Vitters Shipyard commented, “For the Vitters team, Unfurled was a remarkable project to work on. She carries a great number of innovative and in-house developed elements that all have been carefully engineered and built. We would like to thank everyone who has taken part in this project; now recognised as the sailing yacht of the year.”

The owners added, “We have more than surpassed our goals. In getting there, we can look back at these past three years, from the first drawing to launch and see how much we have enjoyed the process. The collaboration, the trading and testing of ideas, the satisfaction and challenges have resulted in the new Unfurled. We are proud and profoundly grateful to all who were involved.”

Interior designer on the project, Oliver Stirling, praises the owners for their passion and experience on sailing, which resulted in ‘a remarkable yacht’. He commented of the occasion, “Unfurled is a remarkable yacht for remarkable owners. The success of her interior is due to their passion and experience of sailing, matched by their uncompromisingly high standards and knowledge of design and the design process.

“The challenge of building their vision of a cool, calm, contemporary interior with rigorous integrity of detailing and materials was achieved through the seamless teamwork and total commitment of the yard and interior contractor.”
