American sportfish yacht builder Weaver Boat Works has revealed its latest in-build project. Named 18 Reeler, the 30-metre (98-foot) flagship yacht has been given a technical launch.
The naval architecture and exterior are the design work of Donald L. Blount, who created an enclosed bridge on this project. The completed yacht is due to be delivered before the end of the year.
Vital statistics of the yacht include a 7.21-metre beam and a maximum draught of 1.9 metres – allowing the 18 Reeler to enter shallow cruising grounds such as the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
With powerful propulsion thanks to 2,600hp MTU 16V2000 engines each fitted inside the hull, she will match her sleek styling with a sporty turn of speed out on the open water. Meanwhile, with a total fuel capacity of 15,900 litres, extended cruising is very likely.
The yacht’s large aft cockpit will feature a central staircase leading into the saloon, with a plethora of storage for fishing rods as well as live bait wells either side.
At this stage, no further details have been revealed, but pictures of the interior suggest a full-beam master suite and a double VIP cabin.
Built in Tracy’s Landing Maryland, Weaver Boat Works used a cold-moulded timber construction method to build the yacht’s hull. The 18 Reeler follows in the footsteps of the 27.43-metre Weaver 90 CR yacht J’s At Sea, which was launched last year.
