Yas Marina set to host the Abu Dhabi All Star Grand Slam

Yas Marina, situated on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi and managed by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, is set to be one of the Abu Dhabi destinations to host part of the Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) World Tour and SUP World Series. Today (Friday 18^th April 2014), from 1pm to 7pm. Yas Marina will bring the entire community together for a show stopping event that will include watching the world’s top and all-star paddle board riders come head to head for the final sprint race, and an array of family-friendly activities, from SUP clinics and watersports to rock climbing.

The Abu Dhabi All Star Grand Slam is a 10-day event held at Wadi Adventure, Yas Marina and Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club. Over the ten days, 80 of the world’s top riders will battle it out to be the wave, long distance and sprint racing finalist, winning the biggest prize purse to date in the sport, making the Abu Dhabi All Star Grand Slam the richest purse in the world.

The sprint race final at Yas Marina on 18th April will be the most exciting paddle boarding event to date, with adrenaline running high to win the grand cash prize. Yas Marina will warmly welcome spectators to come down and support the world renowned paddle boarding stars, including the world’s number one paddle boarder, Kai Lenny.

In addition to the thrilling race, UAE residents and tourists can enjoy a whole host of entertainment for the entire family along the promenade, making the spring event a truly vibrant affair. Spirits will be running high with a talented Red Bull DJ and a range of activities for spectators to take part in, including rock climbing and watersports. Event goers will even have the opportunity to ride a paddle board and experience the new sporting craze of the region. Experts for SUP enthusiasts of all levels will also be on hand to help brush up their skills.
