New Appointments Within CNI's Corporate Structure

CNI is pleased to confirm that Eric de Saintdo has been appointed Executive Chairman and CEO of CNI. Originally assigned both roles on a temporary basis earlier this year, Eric's supervising presence over the CNI corporation was made permanent after he demonstrated invaluable management skills and exciting company vision. As Chairman for almost six months, through his specialised knowledge of the market and his human qualities in tune with company values, Eric has laid the fundamentals of a promising and lasting future for CNI.
At the same time, as CEO, Eric met with his teams and together they came up with guidelines for a development strategy. To carry on this supervisory capacity, while relying on the new management he set up into business units, it was only natural and fitting that Eric conserve his role of CEO in order to assist and promote the Group’s project day to day.
Eric is extremely well regarded within the luxury yachting industry after successfully transforming the Cannes International Boat & Yacht Show from an annual yachting event into a celebrated international affair under his management.

Yogi wins ‘Most Innovative Yacht of Year 2011’
CNI are delighted that the 60-metre YOGI, sold and project managed by CNI’s Fernando Nicholson, built by Proteksan Turquoise with design by Jean Guy Verges, was awarded the coveted prize of Most Innovative Yacht of the Year 2011. Hosted by Yachts Magazine, the awards ceremony, held during the Cannes International Boat Show, celebrated innovation and great design. And the 60-metre Proteksan motor yacht YOGI certainly comes with several innovations. Among the best of these are the oversized windows and portholes along her superstructure hull, and a main deck pool area on the aft deck with a beach club area below. Located on the aft part of the main deck, the large pool has a glass skylight with a view down into the beach club below, which allows access to the bathing platform and side balcony area. YOGI accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms, including a master suite and VIP stateroom on the main deck, and a further three double cabins and one twin cabin, on the lower deck, as well as accommodation for 15 crew.

CNI’s super(Yachting) Index is now online
The fourth edition of CNI’s (super)Yachting Index is now online. This year’s Index, which has once again been developed in collaboration with SuperYachtTimes.com, looks back at the yachting market in 2010, comparing figures not only with previous years, but also by country and nationality. The CNI (super) Yachting Index analyses data from both sales and charter services, and provides enlightening statistics on current trends, again giving numerical comparisons with previous years. The statistical report concluded a continued increase in results and figures across the industry, and highlights specific themes of interest to anyone involved in the superyachting industry – be they owners, charterers, brokers or employees.

The Marketplace today
After the recent shows of Cannes and Monaco, it’s clear the industry is afloat with many fine yachts for sale. However, with such numbers of yachts available to purchase, buyers can be extremely particular about finish. As a result, the sales market has become an environment where quality prevails and shipyards now collectively face the challenge to build, design and deliver sophisticated yachts unlike ever before. With reasonable prices and a wide choice, buyers are calling the shots and their requirements are steadfast. The shows saw a strong presence of new emerging markets at these recent shows, and many Russian, Asian and South American buyers took the opportunity to view the latest yachts on the market during the Cannes and Monaco shows.

Michael Payne, the new CCO of Camper & Nicholsons, gives his views on the current market stating: “This is a new and challenging time for the industry. With the number of new orders now increasing all the time, it’s very clear our clients are still passionate about yachts, which is fantastic. However, with the brokerage market so saturated with many yachts for sale, it has created a climate that demands high levels of proactivity. This winter, I believe the market will see a decent amount of sales as there are some spectacular yachts and opportunities available at the moment.”
