Everything you need to know about the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ superyacht

The new series of UK reality TV series ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ premiered on Sunday evening (18th November), with 10 new celebrities entering the Australian jungle for three weeks of Bushtucker Trials and campfire tribulations.

This 2018 cast includes Torchwood and Arrow actor John Barrowman, legendary British football manager Harry Redknapp and The Vamps guitarist James McVey, but it wasn’t this year’s famous faces that stole the limelight in episode one of ITV’s hit show. Alas, one of the main talking points was the decadent Benetti-designed superyacht that gave the celebrities a final taste of the high life before their deployment in the critter-infested Australian outback.

With that in mind, we have compiled an extensive dossier on the yacht that has got the nation talking – here’s everything you need to know about the ‘I’m A Celeb’ headline-grabber:

  • Named Cosmos II (originally Cosmos)
  • Built in 1987 by Australian yard Lloyds Ships
  • Comprises a GRP hull and GRP superstructure
  • Measures 32.5 metres (107-feet)
  • Original interior and exterior design implemented by Italian yard Benetti
  • Power comes from two MTU diesel engines
  • Maximum speed of 14 knots and a range of 3,000 nautical miles
  • On-board accommodation for up to eight guests, plus six crew members
  • Undergone refits in 2000, 2004 and 2012
  • Following the 2012 refit, she was renamed Cosmos II
  • Available for charter in Australia from $60,000 AUSD

It is unclear whether Cosmos II is scheduled to feature further in this year’s series, but if she does, you will now be able to impress your friends and family with these interesting facts. And who knows, it may solve your 2019 holiday plans?
