Fuegy partners with Amber Rebellion to bring Aussie craft beer to Hong Kong’s yachting scene

Fuegy, a Hong Kong-based marine fuel bunkering company, has partnered with craft beer importer Amber Rebellion to offer a unique provisioning service to its clients.

Amber Rebellion is a beer importer, also based in Hong Kong and specialising in craft beers from South Australia. Jock Auld, founder of Amber Rebellion and friend of Fuegy founder, Al Fullerton, said “People were just looking for something with more flavour and variety, Craft brews probably really opened up in Hong Kong over the last two years.”

The idea of the partnership was hatched by Fullerton, who saw an opportunity to supply high quality, Aussie beers and snacks to boats whilst they got their fuel.

He said, “Jock and I shared an office in the early days; I was supplying quality diesel and AR quality beers to a client base that demanded excellence. The synergies were there immediately.

“The concept soon came to me that Fuegy should be a 'purveyor of fine liquids', supplying craft beers and high-end Aussie products to compliment a lovely day out on the water with family and friends.”

Jock added, “Not everyone wants to drink a can of cheap beer and eat a packet of chips when they are out on a luxury boat trip in Hong Kong waters. Bringing quality craft beer and premium snacks direct to boats in Hong Kong will therefore provide a much-needed service.

“It was a very clever idea that when you stock up on fuel you could stock up on beer and snacks. It works perfectly for us and opens up a whole new distribution channel.”
