Horizon launches new PC60 power catamaran Ptolemy

Horizon Yachts has announced the launch of a brand-new PC60 power catamaran, named Ptolemy. The owners, who have built many previous Horizon Yachts, including the first PC60 Blue Horizon, joined Horizon Group CEO, John Lu and his wife, along with Horizon USA preferred partner Richard Ford of the Power Catamaran Company, for a sea trial and launch celebration at the Horizon City Marina.

Lu commented, “We are very excited to launch a secondPC60 power catamaran for these experienced owners and friends. We know ‘Ptolemy’ will see just as many Bahamas adventures as her predecessor, and we wish the owners a wonderful time making new memories on their Horizon.”

After spending the past four years cruising Blue Horizon, the owners were ready to move into another new build PC60; this one customised more to suit their newly retired status.

According to Horizon Yachts, they enjoy having family and friends on board, so they opted for a four-stateroom layout; the spacious main deck, in addition to featuring a large salon, open kitchen and bar area, also includes the on-deck en-suite master stateroom.

Exterior spaces on the PC60 are designed for entertaining – the foredeck offers a sunbathing area, and the aft deck, complete with built-in seating, a dining table for eight, and a wet bar, offers a place to gather for a meal or cocktails.

Moving up top, the open bridge incorporates an L-shaped dinette and riding seat to starboard, wet bar to port, and plenty of room to spare for a tender on the boat deck; a notable feature of the wet bar is a blue glass design, which can be illuminated at night to provide a nice glow up top.

Equipped with twin Cummins 705 HP engines, Ptolemy reaches a top speed of 22 knots and cruises at 18 knots. She is scheduled to deliver to the US in early June.
