According to local reports, a luxury yacht and tourist boat have collided off the coast of Rhode Island this week, with damage to both vessels.
Reported by the Providence Journal, luxury yacht Sonny and excursion boat Lady Frances collided in Block Island Sound. The collision took place on 27th June, with damage to both vessels above the waterline. Thankfully, neither of the vessels took on any water and no injuries were reported.
While the cause of the yacht crash has not yet been determined, an investigation to try and establish the cause of the crash has been launched by the US Coastguard, according to Petty Officer Answer Barresi.
Owner of the Frances Fleet excursion boats Christine Blount, told the Providence Journal, “We are very grateful that our crew acted appropriately and that nobody was hurt – we commend our captain and crew for their quick actions.” Her partner Frank also commented, “We’re satisfied that our crew did nothing wrong.”
Lady Frances is described as “southern New England’s fastest party boat”, able to carry up to 150 passengers for activities including whale watching and deep sea fishing excursions.
