After a number of meetings and conversations with crew agents, OMT Maritime Training has discovered a shortage of engineers on board superyachts.
With that in mind, they have added two extra courses in June and July along with a 'Summertime Special' price of £425.
This four day AEC course is the required MCA qualification to become second engineer on a boat over 30 meters, but is equally valuable for those working on smaller vessels. It's the first rung on the ladder for those looking to make onboard marine engineering their career.
The OMT AEC course includes extensive practical training as well as theory elements including:
- Compression ignition
- Fuel systems
- Cooling systems
- Engine Electrical Systems
- Power Transmission
- Hull Fittings
- Code of Safe Working Practices
- Pollution Legislation
- Bottled LPG Installation
The course runs from the OMT engineering facility in Southampton and is presented by one of the leading lecturers in this field. The next two courses are on the 27 to 30 June and 14 to 17 July.
They also run an Advanced Mechanical Course that covers such systems as air conditioning, domestic water systems, generators, hydraulics and gearboxes.
