Pendennis reports busy winter refit period

As expected, one of the leading UK repair shipyards Pendennis has reported a busy winter refit season, with many yachts benefitting from the modern facilities in Pendennis’ three new construction halls. The company welcomed nine yachts over the winter with an average LOA of over 50m, with each of the three new halls remaining full since their completion.

Refit projects have included M/Y Siran, the completion of the substantial 24 month remodelling and refit of S/Y M5, and the ongoing restoration of M/Y Malahne. Alongside these, the yard also welcomed Pendennis built yachts Rebecca, Nostromo and Christopher back to the yard for refit and survey works. Hall three is currently being used for the 31.3m S/Y Dubois new build project.

S/Y Christopher, designed by Ron Holland, has travelled extensively around the world, including through the Pacific islands, where she was assisted by the Pendennis Pacific yacht support base in Auckland. The 46m ketch returned to Falmouth after her worldwide cruise to undergo her annual Lloyd’s survey before competing in the 2014 Pendennis Cup. According to Pendennis, she performed exceptionally against an impressive field of modern and classic yachts, completing the four days of racing in second place overall.

S/Y Nostromo, which also recently completed a refit at the Falmouth facility, focussed on her five-year Lloyd’s and MCA surveys supported by the installation of a new electronics and entertainment package as well as work on the vessel’s lighting system.

Interior modifications were carried out to the owner’s cabin with a full exterior repaint by the in-house Pendennis team, beautifully finishing works on this high performance sloop.
