Wave goodbye to disappointing paint jobs

C.C.S. Yacht Coating Services, one of the world’s most respected superyacht paint consultancy companies, has found that the majority of yacht captains end up disappointed with the results of refit paint work.

According to Paul Bournas, managing director at CSS, “Superyacht paint jobs most often fail at the first hurdle - the preparation period, which starts even before a shipyard or contractor is selected. During CSS’s 22 years in the business, we have noticed that the lead up to the paint work, the period when all documentation and contracts are put in place, is just as important as the more traditional inspections during the work process”.

Based on this understanding, CSS have now launched a comprehensive refit service that fits each vital aspect of the job, including preparation of all documentation, into a single package or service, allowing for a turn-key solution. Bournas believes this approach will inevitably lead to better paint results for the superyacht industry.

CSS can manage the entire project on behalf of the owner and crew from creating a ‘bid package’ used to acquire more accurate quotes from shipyards, to periodic and wholly independent supervision when the work begins. CSS’s refit service concludes with a final visit to the yacht in which the final paint result is thoroughly assessed by one of their veteran coating advisors.
